By thanking someone for commenting on my blog, I am not endorsing her/his sentiments. I refuse to create polarizing reactions to negative comments, no matter how limited I may find them. Frankly, it's too easy to dismiss our opponents as pigs, Cro-Magnons, or a series of expletives. It takes true effort to rise above incendiary statements and address these sexist comments in a logical and meaningful way.

You're thanking Jack Moore for his "get over it" opinion? I'll wipe my ass with his worthless opinion. It added nothing to the discussion except the typical blinders-on, 'it's not sexist' knee-jerk reaction. Why anyone would thank this typical male entitlement commentary is beyond me.

Living in Boston in the midst of the never-ending Red Sox/Yankees rivalry, I've come to understand extremism among sports fans. This type of imagery would be grotesque were it peddled and promoted by adults for adults, but what I don't understand is how this rape scene (and apparently others over the years) was ever permitted in a high school.

What is it like to be a young woman at this high school? Or a cheerleader? Where are the grown-ups? Have we completely lost our ability to be shocked and to take action to right a wrong?

I don't consider the image of a cheerleader sexually servicing two horses to be merely "inappropriate." The opposing team's mascot wasn't portrayed here; one of its female cheerleaders was. (Not that substituting a male cheerleader in this image would make it OK.) The horses appear to be "high-fiving" each other during this act and one of them is pushing down her head - to my eye the image does not portray a consensual act. While athletics encourage competition and fierce rivalry; team sports actively promote sportsmanship. I never experienced themes of sexual domination during my high school years of student athletics.

That said, thank you for sharing your opinion.
